What is the difference between a Biblical counselor and a psychologist? The most significant difference between Biblical counseling and psychology is that psychology asserts that man has all the answers within himself and needs to look inside himself for those answers. Biblical counseling says that God has all the answers to man’s problems and man needs to learn to listen to God and apply God’s Word to his life to solve his problems.Biblical counseling is also about learning to apply Biblical principles to life’s issues & challenges and teaching you to walk with God.
Do I have to be a Christian to benefit from your services? No. We welcome anyone who would like to receive counseling for personal issues. We welcome the opportunity to discuss and clear up any misconceptions about God or Christianity that you may have
Do you accept insurance? No. However some insurance companies will pay a portion as an out of network provider. That would be up to each individual client to contact their insurance company to see what options are available.
How long can I expect to be in counseling? It will vary for each person depending on your situation, how fast you work through recovery, finances and your personal goals. It also may change as you progress through therapy as you may come in for one issue, but we may uncover other issues that need to be addressed.
What forms of payment do you accept? Cash, check, money orders, Visa & MC.
Isn’t counseling only for crazy people? Absolutely not. Counseling is for anyone wanting to improve themselves in any way. That is actually a very smart and wise thing to do. Especially if you address issues before they get too big and out of hand
When should I seek counseling?Anytime you experience any kind of personal or relational discomfort lasting more than a few days or weeks.
Do I need counseling? The only way to truly know this is to come in for a few sessions and let me evaluate your situation. At the very least we can help you understand your unique temperament and give you some tips on how to overcome weaknesses common with your unique temperament blend. However, a general rule is that if you are experiencing any kind of inner or relational discomfort lasting more than a few days or weeks then you could certainly benefit from counseling.
Don’t counselors just tell you what you’re doing wrong? No. The job of the counselor is to help you get unstuck in any area where you may feel stuck. It is also the job of the counselor to help you identify blind spots that may be holding you back and help give you tools to manage or overcome those blind spots so you can be all you are meant to be.
